Meet the Artist

Hi, I’m Kent, an artist who creates detailed bird drawings.

I didn’t start there, though. In High School, I was really into art. I would use art pencils to draw trees, and old buildings. However, if my drawing didn’t look real, instead of learning from it, I would get disappointed in what I thought was my inability to draw. Eventually, out of frustration, I stopped drawing altogether.

Then, a few years ago, I bought an iPad and downloaded an art app called Procreate, mostly just to see what it could do. What started as casual experimenting slowly became something more intentional. I decided to keep art in a place that felt fun and relaxing—no pressure, no performance, just creating for the joy of it.

At first, I drew whatever came to mind: abstract doodles, space-themed pieces, crosses and swords. Each phase felt like a kind of search. Then one day, while sketching freely, I noticed a flower hidden in the scribbles. I followed it, which led to drawing more plant life and paying closer attention to detail and form.

Somewhere along the way, birds entered the picture—and everything clicked.

Now I focus on detailed bird illustrations, combining patience, observation, and a deep appreciation for the intricacy of God’s creation. After all the experimenting, I’ve found a niche that feels natural to me, and work that truly reflects who I am.
