This little guy was quite the challenge to draw. I took this a bit further than my previous drawing (see Artistic Expression). He is the first bird I actually drew where I hardly looked at any of my reference photos. I did use several photos to get the pose, anatomical proportions, color, and shading accurate, but then went with how I wanted to express this fellow. I did occasionally glance at some of the reference photos, but even then, I was just using them as a guide while making my own decisions about how I wanted the bird to look and feel.
